Former women Naxals showcase handlooms at Raipur event

Former female Naxal cadres from the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh participated in a fashion presentation during a National Handloom Day event in Raipur. The women, who previously lived in forests as part of Maoist groups, walked the ramp wearing traditional handloom attire, including locally produced Kosa silk.

The event served as a demonstration of rehabilitation efforts aimed at reintegrating surrendered Maoists into mainstream society through livelihood opportunities and skill-based training. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai was in attendance at the occasion. The initiative highlights the transition of former insurgents from armed conflict to participating in the celebration of the region’s textile heritage and economic activities.
