Former Yakuza Member Kiyoshi Tenba Arrested in Tokyo Over Drug Sale
On July 31, 2026, Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested 60‑year‑old former yakuza member 天羽清史 (Kiyoshi Tenba) on suspicion of selling roughly 10 grams of a stimulant drug for ¥150,000. The alleged transaction took place on a street in Nerima Ward, where Tenba reportedly handed the substance to a man in his 50s from the parking area of a family restaurant, offering the drug at a price below market rates.
Tenba, known to regular customers as “天羽のおっちゃん,” denied the allegations, stating he would remain silent. Police indicated that they are examining other possible sales and related offenses.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about former organized‑crime members re‑entering illicit markets in Japan.
