Formerly homeless man rescues drowning victim in Poznań

On 3 August 2026, at about 17:15, Przemek, a resident of Dom Nadziei im. św. Józefa in Poznań, noticed a man struggling in the Warta River near the Rataje district. He jumped from a bridge into the river, risking his own life, and pulled the victim to safety.

Przemek, who was homeless a year and a half earlier, now works at the Elżbietańskie Centrum Pomocy Ubogim, assisting other people experiencing homelessness. The rescue was widely praised on social media, with comments highlighting his courage and the transformative power of a second chance.
