Formia to host Remigio Paone International Lyric Singing Competition

The first Remigio Paone International Lyric Singing Competition will take place on December 18 and 19, 2026, in Formia, Italy. Held at the Teatro Iqbal Masih, the event is part of the 10th edition of the Remigio Paone – La Caravella Prize.

The competition honors Remigio Paone, a prominent 20th-century Italian theatrical impresario born in Formia. It is organized through a collaboration between the Associazione Artistico Culturale Noi per Napoli APS and the Associazione Culturale La Magica di Formia. Artistic direction is led by soprano Olga De Maio and tenor Luca Lupoli.

Open to singers of all nationalities and without general age limits, the competition includes categories for soprano, mezzo-soprano, contralto, tenor, baritone, and bass. Participants are required to perform four pieces from the lyric-operatic repertoire spanning the 18th to the 20th centuries. An optional section dedicated to Neapolitan Classical Song is also available.
