Formosa and Argentina national government show divergent spending patterns

A report by the consultancy Politiké compares the public spending structures of the Formosa province and the Argentine national government since the administration of Javier Milei. The findings suggest the two entities are following opposing economic paths.

In 2025, Formosa allocated 47.5% of its budget to education, health, and public works. In contrast, the national administration allocated only 11.9% to these sectors. Specifically, Formosa directed 20.9% of its spending toward education, compared to 5.4% at the national level. For health, the province assigned 15.4% of its budget, which is nearly triple the percentage allocated by the national government.

The report utilizes economic theories from various Nobel laureates to argue that long-term development relies on deliberate investment in knowledge, health, and infrastructure. It also references IMF studies regarding the impact of public investment on GDP.
