Formosa government builds new culvert in Colonia San Juan

The Formosa provincial government, through the Provincial Road Directorate (DPV), is constructing a new concrete culvert on Local Road No. 7000 in Colonia San Juan, Pilcomayo Department. The project aims to mitigate the effects of the El Niño weather phenomenon.

The new infrastructure replaces a collapsed metal culvert that failed due to intense rainfall and rising water levels in the Parajón ditch, a tributary of the El Porteño stream. Funded entirely by local treasury funds, the project is designed to restore safe and permanent connectivity for local residents and producers.

The technical specifications include three U-shaped precast concrete modules, each 9 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 3 meters high. This design provides a total drainage capacity of 18 square meters, which triples the drainage capacity of the previous structure to prevent future flooding and ensure the system does not become overwhelmed.
