Formosa implements preventive measures ahead of El Niño

The Provincial Road Directorate (DPV) in Formosa is implementing preventive measures and protocols to mitigate the potential impacts of the El Niño phenomenon. Christian Peter, head of the DPV, stated that the agency is working to maintain the provincial road network and conserve defense systems in the cities of Formosa and Clorinda.

The DPV is coordinating with the Provincial Water Coordinating Unit (UCAP), the Provincial Drinking Water Service (SPAP), and other government bodies to manage water resources and surface runoff. During a recent regional security council meeting in Resistencia, the province presented its local hydrological situation, including existing basins and vulnerable risk zones.

While Formosa has invested in infrastructure to mitigate climate phenomena, officials criticized the national government for focusing only on emergency coordination rather than the execution of mitigation works.
