Formosa Nuclear Medicine Center Marks Fourth Anniversary
On Tuesday, 28 April, the Centro de Medicina Nuclear y Radioterapia Presidente Dr. Néstor C. Kirchner (CEMENURNK) in Formosa, Argentina, held a ceremony to commemorate the fourth anniversary of admitting its first patient. Former patients were invited, and a bell was rung to honor the inaugural case.
The centre, which began operations in July 2022 and was formally inaugurated in December 2022, has treated more than 1,400 individuals, with over 1,300 having completed their therapies. Director Dr. Fernando Trachta highlighted that 95% of the staff are local Formoseños and announced that the facility is securing approvals to operate a cyclotron, which will enable on‑site production of radiopharmaceuticals and reduce reliance on imports from Buenos Aires. The centre aims to become a regional supplier of these medicines, underscoring the provincial government's long‑term investment in public health.
Trachta stressed that the project reflects the provincial government's commitment to health as a state priority and that comprehensive patient support, including wellness and quality‑of‑life services, accompanies the medical treatment.
