Formosa Police Penitentiary Units mark second anniversary

The Formosa Police Penitentiary Units celebrated their second anniversary with a ceremony at the Higher Institute of Police Training in the capital city. The event also marked the anniversary of the provincial security force's music band.

Jorge Abel Gonzalez, the Minister of Government, Justice, Security, and Labor, stated that the date honors a long-standing process of reforming the provincial alcaidías (lockups) into a structured penitentiary system. Currently, the province operates six penitentiary units and has trained eight promotions of technical security officers.

A notable achievement highlighted during the ceremony was that Formosa no longer holds convicted individuals in police stations, a distinction Minister Gonzalez claimed is rare among Argentine provinces. This shift is intended to optimize the operational efficiency of the provincial police force.
