Formosa Province announces 15% public‑sector salary hike under Governor Gildo Insfrán

Governor Gildo Insfrán of Argentina’s Formosa province confirmed a 15% increase in salaries for provincial public employees, bringing the cumulative wage growth to 29% by 2026. The raise, which will cost more than 210 billion pesos, also lifts the guaranteed minimum pocket salary for state workers to between 1.1 million and 1.2 million pesos, well above the national public‑sector benchmark of roughly 17% and higher than neighboring provinces’ 15‑17% increases.

The measure was announced after negotiations with the CGT, ATE and other unions, and is presented as a fiscal effort to preserve workers’ purchasing power despite a 1.4% decline in provincial fiscal transfers. The provincial treasury will fund the increase without issuing new debt, relying on its own resources amid falling shared‑tax revenues.
