Formosa Provincial Historical Archive celebrates 53 years
The Provincial Historical Archive of Formosa celebrated its 53rd anniversary with a commemorative event highlighting its role in preserving the province's documentary heritage. Established in 1973 under Law No. 351, the institution serves as a vital resource for researchers, students, and the community.
Graciela Buiatti, the provincial Director of Sociocultural Heritage, emphasized the ongoing commitment to conservation and the expansion of the archive through private donations. During the anniversary, citizens contributed historical materials, including photographs documenting locations such as María Cristina.
The institution is currently focused on a meticulous digitization process to preserve original documents and increase public access. Notable items undergoing digitization include copybooks dating back to 1872, predating the arrival of Commander Luis Jorge Fontana, the founder of Formosa.
