Formula 1 and Formula E announce major 2026-27 schedule and technical updates

The 2026 Formula 1 season features a unique scheduling arrangement for the Bahrain Grand Prix, which will be held at the Sepang International Circuit. This logistical shift follows economic support from Bahraini promoters to host the event under the Bahrain Grand Prix name despite the 6,000-kilometer distance from Sakhir to Sepang. The race is scheduled for the weekend of October 2-4, 2026, and is expected to be highly demanding due to heat and humidity.

In electric racing, the 2026-27 Formula E season will introduce the Gen4 monoplaza, featuring increased power, improved energy efficiency, and advanced technology. The season is set to begin in Saudi Arabia in December 2026 before traveling to Mexico. The Mexico City e-Prix is scheduled for January 16, 2027, at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, marking one of the first appearances of the Gen4 cars in competition.
