Formula 1 Bahrain GP grid reshuffled by engine penalties
Multiple grid penalties have altered the starting lineup for the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit. Franco Colapinto faces a total 15-position penalty, combining a previous five-position penalty from an incident in Baku with a new ten-position penalty for using a fifth Mercedes V6 engine. This decision by Alpine was a strategic move to manage power unit allocations for the remainder of the season.
Red Bull's Isack Hadjar will also drop five positions to start eighth after an internal combustion engine change. Additionally, Arvid Lindblad faces a 30-position penalty, placing him at the back of the grid. Despite these changes, Max Verstappen secured pole position, with Lewis Hamilton starting second and Kimi Antonelli moving up to third.
