Formula 1 drivers Alonso and Bortoleto discuss regulations and ambitions

Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso has criticized the sport's current and upcoming regulations, stating that the technical complexity and engineering-heavy approach have reduced the enjoyment of driving. Speaking ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the Aston Martin driver argued that the 2026 regulations may limit speed and on-track competition, noting that drivers must now focus excessively on programming and simulations rather than pure racing.

In a separate development within the sport, Brazilian driver Gabriel Bortoleto expressed his ambition to become one of Formula 1's greatest champions. Currently competing for Audi, Bortoleto stated in an interview with Sky Sports that while he aims to make history, his immediate priority is supporting the Audi project and improving the team's standing in the championship.
