Formula 1 drivers discuss paddock culture and racing trends
Formula 1 drivers Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have shared differing perspectives on the current state of the sport.
Max Verstappen described the modern F1 paddock as being “like a zoo,” noting that it has become increasingly difficult to find privacy or have quiet conversations due to the constant demands of guests and the high-pressure environment. The Red Bull driver also noted that fatherhood is influencing his long-term career planning, expressing a desire to spend more time at home to see his children grow up.
Lewis Hamilton expressed concern regarding a shift in racing culture, specifically noting that younger drivers appear more cautious than previous generations. Hamilton observed that while older drivers were often more willing to race in difficult wet conditions, younger competitors seem more hesitant to start races when tracks are heavily saturated. He noted that while racing in the rain is undeniably more risky, it remains a vital opportunity for drivers to demonstrate their talent.
