Formula 1 drivers weigh Imola as potential season finale
Formula 1 drivers are discussing the potential for the 2026 season finale to be held at Imola, Italy, should political instability prevent races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
Drivers have expressed concerns regarding the cold December weather in the Imola region, where average temperatures often remain in the single digits. Charles Leclerc noted that low temperatures would make it a “big challenge to get the tyres up to temperature,” while Oliver Bearman joked about the need for “snow chains and gloves” due to the cold and potential precipitation.
Despite these concerns, Max Verstappen suggested that the conditions are manageable, stating, “There are worse places than Imola to spend the winter.” Arvid Lindblad added that while it may be darker and wetter than Abu Dhabi, the drivers would follow the series' decision.
