Formula 1 experts propose new stewarding and VSC rules

Former Ferrari and Williams race engineer Rob Smedley has proposed the introduction of an expanded group of stewards to Formula 1. Smedley suggests this would allow for faster decision-making during races, preventing simple incidents from being delayed until after the checkered flag due to the current stewards' limited capacity to analyze live events without halting race development.

Separately, former champion Nico Rosberg has suggested regulatory changes regarding the Virtual Safety Car (VSC) to prevent unfair advantages or disadvantages. This proposal follows the Spanish Grand Prix, where Lando Norris lost a potential victory after a VSC deployment prevented him from making a timely pit stop, unlike his competitors. Rosberg proposed closing the pit lane during VSC periods to mitigate these timing discrepancies.
