Hungarian Grand Prix weekend sees teams clash ahead of summer break
The 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix will take place at the Hungaroring from 24 to 26 July, serving as the final race before the scheduled three‑week summer pause. Mercedes youngster Kimi Antonelli leads the drivers’ standings after a dominant performance in the opening rounds, while Ferrari hopes to narrow the gap and challenge Mercedes on the technically demanding circuit.
Formula‑1 legend‑themed corner naming was unveiled to mark the Grand Prix’s 40th anniversary. All 14 turns now bear the names of iconic drivers – Turn 2 after Lewis Hamilton, Turn 1 after Nelson Piquet, Turn 4 after Nigel Mansell, Turn 12 after Michael Schumacher, Turn 13 after Ayrton Senna, among others – with hand‑prints from Hamilton, Mansell and Jean Alesi cast in concrete at the track.
The Hungaroring, which has hosted the race for over four decades, has produced historic first victories for drivers such as Damon Hill, Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button. The circuit is renowned for its tight, low‑speed corners that make overtaking difficult, often leading to surprise results.
