Formula 1 plans 2028 TV rights shift and power‑unit updates

The commercial rights for broadcasting Formula 1 in Germany will be renegotiated after the 2027 season. Formula‑1 chief Stefano Domenicali said several bidders are expected, including RTL with its Sky subsidiary and Apple, which could bring the races to Apple TV+ from 2028.

Separately, the FIA announced technical regulation changes for the 2027‑2028 seasons. The power‑unit split will move to a 60:40 ratio favoring the internal‑combustion engine by 2028, with engine output rising to about 450 kW. The electric MGU‑K output will be reduced, while battery capacity and regenerative power will increase, allowing the electric motor to recover up to 400 kW in 2028.
