Madrid prepares for inaugural Formula 1 Grand Prix at Madring circuit

Madrid is preparing for the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix at the new Madring circuit, scheduled for September 11–13, 2026. Located near the IFEMA and Valdebebas areas, the 5.4-kilometer track features 22 curves, including the highly banked ‘La Monumental’ curve. The event marks the return of Formula 1 to the Spanish capital after 45 years, with an agreement spanning ten years through 2035.

Economic forecasts suggest a significant impact, with PwC estimating the event could generate between 450 and 467 million euros annually and create approximately 8,850 jobs. The influx of visitors has already impacted the local hospitality sector, with average daily hotel rates in Madrid rising by nearly 70% compared to 2025.

To manage the expected 345,000 attendees, the Madrid City Council has activated a special mobility plan. This includes five free EMT shuttle services connecting the circuit to strategic city points, alongside reinforced Metro, Cercanías, and bus services. Traffic restrictions and road closures are planned around the IFEMA area from September 10 to 14.
