Formula 1 returns to Madrid with €450 million economic boost
The Spanish Grand Prix will be held on September 11‑13 at the new semi‑urban “Madring” circuit built by IFEMA in the capital. The event marks the first Formula 1 race in Madrid for 45 years and has already sold more than 100 000 tickets, with the remaining hospitality spots nearly full. Organisers expect around 350 000 visitors over the weekend, including 45 000 from abroad, and project an annual economic impact of roughly €450 million, creating about 8 200 direct jobs and generating €35 million in tax revenue. A premium VIP area called “La Azotea” will offer pools, DJ performances, 360‑degree city views and high‑end dining across three levels. The hospitality zone can accommodate 15 000 guests, while the Paddock Club’s 3 500 seats are sold out. IFEMA financed the circuit from its own resources, avoiding public subsidies, and plans to use revenue from tickets and commercial agreements to fund construction and future expansion.
