Formula 1 teams prepare major technical upgrades for Zandvoort

Leading Formula 1 teams Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren are preparing significant technical upgrade packages following the summer break, with many developments set to debut at the Zandvoort Grand Prix.

Ferrari plans to introduce a new floor at Zandvoort, which is an evolution of the specification used in Barcelona. This is followed by an anticipated ‘ADUO2’ engine upgrade at Monza, featuring a revised power unit with a larger-diameter impeller turbine designed to improve straight-line performance. Despite these advancements, Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur noted that the upgrades are not expected to immediately close the engine performance gap to Mercedes and Red Bull, which currently stands at approximately one to two tenths of a second per lap.

Mclaren is also looking to build on the momentum gained from their Hungarian Grand Prix upgrades, which improved tire management and lap times. Meanwhile, Mercedes has adjusted its development strategy to remain competitive against the closing gap from Ferrari and McLaren, with further updates expected later in the season.
