Formula 1 technical philosophies: Ferrari teamwork and Honda's personnel strategy
Ferrari Technical Director Loïc Serra has emphasized a collective approach to car development at Maranello. Serra noted that performance is interdependent across various components, such as aerodynamics, suspension, and cooling, rather than being the result of isolated departments. He described the development process as a puzzle where every piece must fit together, stating that successes and failures are shared by the entire team rather than individuals.
In a separate development within Formula 1, Honda track manager Shintaro Orihara explained the differences between Honda’s previous partnership with Red Bull and its current alliance with Aston Martin. Orihara noted that Honda’s philosophy involves rotating talent between Formula 1 and street car projects to broaden corporate knowledge. This structural approach has led to differences in technical personnel compared to the Red Bull era, a shift that has impacted the technical landscape of their current partnership with Aston Martin.
