United States Grand Prix: F1 heads to Austin for decisive season stretch

The 2026 Formula 1 season enters its decisive final six races with the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, scheduled for October 23–25. This event marks a return to the traditional race format, moving away from the Sprint weekend structure used in previous years.

Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli enters the weekend as the championship leader, holding a significant advantage over teammate George Russell. A victory in Austin could potentially secure his first World Drivers' Championship. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen and Red Bull aim to maintain their momentum following recent successes in Malaysia and Singapore.

The technical challenges at COTA include an abrasive track surface, significant elevation changes, and high-speed corners that demand precise aerodynamic balance. Alpine faces difficulties with tire overheating and traction, issues highlighted during the Singapore Grand Prix. Additionally, Haas F1 will debut a special Godzilla-themed livery for the home race event.
