Formula 1 moves from Madring debut to Azerbaijan Grand Prix

The Formula 1 season transitions from the debut of the Madring Circuit in Spain to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku. The inaugural race at Madring, held around IFEMA Madrid and Valdebebas, saw Kimi Antonelli secure victory, extending his championship lead despite criticisms regarding a lack of overtaking opportunities on the 5.4-kilometer track.

Due to local traditions in Azerbaijan, the Baku Grand Prix will be held on Saturday, September 26, to avoid coinciding with the National Day of Remembrance on Sunday. The event features the challenging Baku City Circuit, known for its narrow sections like the ‘Castle Curve’.

In Spain, the economic impact of major events is significant; the Formula 1 Grand Prix is estimated to contribute approximately 467 million euros to the local economy, supporting thousands of jobs and generating substantial tax revenue.
