Formula Bula festival honors French comic artist F’murrr

The 14th edition of the Formula Bula international comic book festival will honor the late French author Richard Peyzaret, known as F’murrr (1946–2018). From September 17 to October 9, 2026, the Mairie du 5ème arrondissement in Paris will host a major retrospective exhibition titled ‘F’murrr, le génie de la page’.

Curated by Lucie Servin, the exhibition will feature approximately one hundred original works, including finished plates, sketchbooks, models, and personal archives. The display is designed to be both chronological and thematic, highlighting F’murrr’s unique approach to drawing, language, and page construction. He is best known for his influential work ‘Le Génie des Alpages’, which debuted in 1973.

In addition to the exhibition, the festival includes a diverse program of cultural events. This includes a conference on September 24 regarding F’murrr’s social activism—specifically his stances on feminism and anti-war movements—and a roundtable discussion on September 25 focused on the challenges of preserving comic book heritage, featuring representatives from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
