Formula SAE Italy 2026 to host 1,600 engineering students

The 21st edition of Formula SAE Italy is scheduled to take place from September 2 to 6, 2026, at the R. Paletti Autodrome in Varano de’ Melegari. Organized by ANFIA in collaboration with SAE International and the Motor Valley Association, the educational event will host approximately 1,600 engineering students representing 53 universities from 14 different countries.

Participants will compete in four distinct categories: the 1EV class for electric propulsion, the 1CV class for internal combustion engines, the 1DV class for autonomous driving vehicles, and Class 3 for innovative projects without functional prototypes. Some teams will also compete in a combined 1DV+1EV category.

The Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI) is participating as a partner, showcasing a 1975 Lancia Stratos HF powered by biofuel as part of its Net-Zero Classic project. This initiative aims to explore sustainable solutions for historic motoring, such as the use of bio-based fuels.
