Fort Benning officials survey site for nuclear microreactors

Leaders from Fort Benning and the Maneuver Center of Excellence met with representatives from Radiant Industries Inc. and the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy & Environment to conduct an initial site visit for the Janus Program.

As a designated host installation, Fort Benning is scheduled to receive three next-generation nuclear microreactors. Radiant Industries will be responsible for the provision, installation, operation, and maintenance of these systems. The technology is intended to provide resilient, independent power to mission-critical facilities, such as Lawson Army Airfield and mission command centers, to ensure operational continuity during commercial grid outages.
