Fort De Kock University legal team seeks police oversight in campus violence case
Legal representatives for the Fort De Kock University Foundation and victims have filed a complaint with the Indonesian National Police Inspectorate General (Itwasum) regarding the handling of an alleged violence case at the Bukittinggi campus. The incident, which reportedly occurred on July 22, 2026, allegedly involved lecturers, students, and security personnel.
Lawyers state that while the investigation by the Bukittinggi Police has reached the inquiry stage, no suspects have been named. Meanwhile, the report filed by the Fort De Kock Education Foundation with the West Sumatra Regional Police remains in the preliminary investigation phase.
The legal team, including Khalid Akbar and Guntur Abdurrahman, has requested that all evidence—including CCTV footage, video recordings, photos, witness statements, and medical documents—be examined objectively and professionally. They are also seeking oversight regarding the orders given to authorities prior to their arrival at the campus.
