Fort McMurray Heritage Village to reopen in spring 2027
The Fort McMurray Heritage Village and Shipyard is scheduled to reopen to the public in spring 2027. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) council recently approved an operating plan to facilitate the reopening following an $800,000 fraud scandal involving an individual charged last month.
The new plan aims to support the preservation of local history through community partnerships and storytelling that includes Indigenous traditions and perspectives. The site will operate Monday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., during the spring and fall seasons.
