Fort McMurray selected to host 2027 Centennial Cup

Hockey Canada announced that Fort McMurray, Alberta, will stage the 2027 Centennial Cup, Canada’s National Junior A Championship, from May 6‑16. The tournament returns to the city for the first time since 2000, when the host Oil Barons won the title on home ice, marking the seventh occasion Alberta has hosted the event.

“The Wood Buffalo Region possesses a unique passion and resilience that makes it an ideal stage for this prestigious event,” said Ryan Bartoshyk, commissioner of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. D’Arcy Hutcheson, Hockey Canada’s director of events, added, “Hockey Canada is excited to return to Alberta and Manitoba, which both have a proven history of hosting successful events.” The announcement also confirmed that Brandon, Manitoba, will host the 2027 TELUS Cup.
