Fort of La Karaka restoration begins in La Goulette, Tunisia

Tunisia's Ministry of Cultural Affairs has launched a consolidation project for the outer walls of the historic Fort of La Karaka in La Goulette. The work is being carried out by the National Heritage Institute (INP) in partnership with the Agency for Heritage Promotion and Cultural Valorisation (AMVPPC) after technical inspections identified an urgent need to protect the structure.

The fort, dating from the 16th century, occupies a strategic position at the entrance to the Gulf of Tunis and is considered a key element of the country's cultural heritage. The restoration is part of a broader programme to preserve, conserve and promote historic monuments, and to reintegrate them into the cultural and tourism landscape for future generations.
