Fort Polk delivery driver arrested for alleged dog theft

A contract delivery driver, Valita Di Yar Shipp, was arrested for the alleged theft of a Yorkshire Terrier from a residence in Hineston. The theft was reported to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office after the owner discovered the dog missing on August 23.

Investigators used photographic and video evidence showing a driver in a gray Nissan Altima making a delivery at the victim's home and subsequently being on the property with the dog. Following a coordinated effort between the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Division at Fort Polk, Shipp was taken into custody. The dog was recovered in good condition and returned to its owner. Shipp faces one count of theft valued between $1,000 and $5,000.
