In Fort St. James, TikTok posts from an account named “catinthehatfortstjames” targeted specific students and mentioned the local high school with threatening captions. While the Fort St. James RCMP stated the situation does not currently appear to involve criminal activity, they have urged the community to report any suspicious activity or property damage.

This phenomenon has been reported globally, with similar incidents triggering law enforcement investigations in the United States, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. In the U.S., authorities in Louisiana, Tennessee, and Texas previously investigated similar posts that named specific schools and students.
