Fort Worth breaks ground on TEXRail extension project
Trinity Metro has officially broken ground on a 2.1-mile TEXRail extension in Fort Worth, Texas. The $270 million project aims to connect the Fort Worth T&P Station to a new Near Southside Station, located on land donated by Baylor Scott & White Health.
The extension is designed to link downtown Fort Worth and the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport with the city’s Near Southside and Medical District. This connection will provide improved access to major healthcare, education, and employment hubs, including Cook Children’s and Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center.
Infrastructure for the project includes a center-platform station, park-and-ride facilities, a crew room, signal and communications systems, pedestrian connections, and retaining walls. The project is intended to reduce transportation barriers and support economic development in the region.
