Fort Worth car crash narrowly misses children in backyard

A speeding vehicle crashed through a backyard fence in the Heritage Place neighborhood of Fort Worth, Texas, on Sunday evening. Surveillance footage shows the moment the car entered the property, narrowly missing a 2-year-old child on a patio and three other children playing in a nearby swimming pool.

The Van Dusen family, who live at the residence, stated that their toddler was “just inches away” from the vehicle and that their 5-year-old twins could have been seriously injured or killed. Neighbors reported that speeding and reckless driving are frequent issues in the area.

In response to the incident, Fort Worth City Councilmember Charles Lauersdorf pledged to implement traffic-calming measures. He indicated that a stop sign is expected to be installed within 30 days, though a traffic study will be necessary before a stoplight can be considered for Heritage Place.
