Fort Worth establishes data center advisory commission

The city of Fort Worth has announced the members of its newly formed Data Center & Infrastructure Commission. The 11-member group is tasked with providing recommendations on how to regulate supercomputer hubs and develop new standards for data center growth within the city.

Led by Michael Slattery, director of the Institute for Environmental Studies at Texas Christian University, the commission includes a diverse group of academics, industry representatives, community advocates, and real estate experts. Notable members include Ryan Kuithe of QTS Data Centers, David Berzina of JLL, and various representatives from local organizations such as the North Fort Worth Alliance and the Sierra Club.

The commission will conduct research into several critical areas, including power consumption, water usage, land use, neighborhood impacts, and economic development. The group's findings are expected to inform the City Council and Mayor Mattie Parker as the city considers potential regulations or moratoriums regarding data center development.
