Fort Worth Fire Chief Raymond Hill Retires After 30 Years of Service

Fort Worth Fire Chief Raymond Hill announced he will retire on September 1, ending more than three decades with the department. Hill began as a firefighter in December 1994, rose through every rank, and was appointed interim chief in October 2025 after the resignation of former chief Jim Davis.

During his tenure, Hill oversaw the department’s transition to a fire‑based emergency medical services system, taking control of ambulance operations from the former provider MedStar. The change cut average EMS response times from about 12.5 minutes to roughly 8.5 minutes. City officials praised his leadership, noting the transformation of emergency response and the department’s continued commitment to public safety. The city will launch a national search for his successor in the coming weeks.
