Fort Worth Fire Department rescues individual from 220-foot crane

The Fort Worth Fire Department successfully rescued an individual from a crane cab located approximately 220 feet in the air at a construction site for JPS Health Hospital on Saturday.

Technical rescue teams responded to a medical emergency call at 11:50 a.m. Responders ascended the crane's ladder carrying all necessary equipment on their backs. Once they reached the top, which is equivalent to over 22 stories, they provided immediate emergency medical care and implemented a plan for a safe descent.

The individual was secured using a ropes and rigging system and lowered to the ground. The entire operation, from the time rescuers reached the patient to the successful descent, was completed in less than one hour.
