Fort Worth firefighters injured in wind-driven house fire

Two firefighters were hospitalized with burn injuries on Monday night while battling a house fire in south Fort Worth, Texas. The incident occurred at a two-story residence in the 7600 block of Crowley Road around 10:40 p.m.

According to the Fort Worth Fire Department, firefighters encountered a sudden burst of heat and flames while attempting to reach the second floor. Wind gusts of up to 25 mph fueled the blaze, prompting a “mayday” call and a second alarm. A specialized rescue crew arrived and successfully extracted the injured firefighters in less than 10 minutes.

The two injured firefighters were transported to local hospitals and are reported to be in stable condition. The fire was brought under control within an hour, though three adults were displaced from the home and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
