TJRN initiates return of irregular judicial bonuses following STF ruling

The Court of Justice of Rio Grande do Norte (TJRN) has initiated individual administrative processes to mandate the return of irregular indemnity funds and payments exceeding salary limits, commonly referred to as ‘penduricalhos’. This action follows a determination by the Supreme Federal Court (STF), signed by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, which identified ‘exorbitant payments’ to magistrates.

Reports indicate significant irregularities, including a retired magistrate receiving over R$ 550,000 in consecutive months and 73 other magistrates receiving more than R$ 100,000 in April. The STF decision also impacts several other state courts, including those in Maranhão, Rio de Janeiro, Goiás, Paraná, and Rondônia.

Separately, various sporting events are scheduled across Brazil, including the 77th Governor Dix-Sept Rosado Cycling Race in Mossoró, the 42K Terra da Luz in Fortaleza, and the Salvador Marathon, which is introducing a 3 km walking category to increase accessibility.
