Fortaleza cyclist killed in bus collision

A cyclist died following a collision with a bus in the Vila Velha neighborhood of Fortaleza, Ceará. The accident occurred on Avenida Mozart Lucena when the bus, operating on the 211 – Vila Velha/Antônio Bezerra line, was performing a left-turn maneuver on Avenida Ambientalista Ary Thiers.

The Municipal Transit and Citizenship Authority (AMC) is leading the investigation to determine if there were safety failures, particularly in high-traffic cycling areas. The Fortaleza Urban Transport Company (Etufor) has requested surveillance footage to assist in understanding the dynamics of the crash. Local residents and cycling groups have expressed concern regarding road safety following the incident.
