Fortaleza Municipal Guard reports 71% resolution rate in neighborhood patrols

The Fortaleza Municipal Guard has reported a 71% resolution rate for incidents handled by its ‘Pelotões nos Bairros’ (Neighborhood Platoons) program. Launched in July 2025 with 18 units, the initiative expanded to 30 teams by August 2026.

Each unit consists of ten guards, three motorcycles, and a mobile base, operating in public spaces such as parks, squares, and community arenas. The program focuses on resolving localized issues—including thefts, traffic accidents, threats, and locating missing persons—directly on-site, preventing the need for police station referrals.

The operation is supported by municipal video monitoring and integrated with state security forces. To bolster the structure, the city government approved a new career and salary plan for the corporation and delivered new headquarters for the Municipal Guard and the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security.
