Fortaleza to host 19th Latin American and Caribbean Internet Governance Forum

The 19th Latin American and Caribbean Internet Governance Forum (LACIGF) will take place in Fortaleza, Brazil, from November 4 to 6. Hosted by the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br), the Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br), and the Brazilian Association of Internet and Telecommunications Providers (ABRINT), the event will be held at the Ceará Events Center.

The forum aims to foster dialogue between governments, civil society, the private sector, academia, and the technical community regarding digital policies and the future of the internet, specifically addressing the needs of the Latin American and Caribbean regions. The program includes 20 community-proposed sessions covering topics such as cybersecurity, infrastructure, rights and inclusion, gender and diversity, regional cooperation, and sustainability.

Three plenary sessions will focus on artificial intelligence, internet blocking, and the impact on children and adolescents. The event begins on November 4 with workshops and meetings, followed by the main program on November 5 and 6. Activities will include panels, workshops, and lectures, with remote access available via the LACIGF YouTube channel.
