Forte da Graça to host musical event in Elvas

The Forte da Graça in Elvas will host the event ‘O Cante Alentejano Ecoa no Forte da Graça’ on October 17 at 11:00. Promoted by the Associação Cultural Públia Hortênsia de Castro de Elvas and supported by the Elvas Municipality, the initiative marks the premiere of the winning works from the first Elvas International Musical Composition Contest (CICME).

The event is designed as a musical journey through the monument, blending traditional Cante Alentejano with contemporary musical creation. The three award-winning compositions to be debuted are ‘Hino ao Forte de Nossa Senhora da Graça’ by João Pedro Pinto Oliveira (first prize), ‘Munimen’ by Rodrigo Manuel Vieira Cardoso (second prize), and ‘Nossa Senhora da Graça’ by Afonso Fontão da Costa (third prize).

Participants include António Brinquete, the Coral Públia Hortênsia de Castro de Elvas, the Elvas Children's Coral Group, and writer Rodrigo Fialho, under the artistic direction of Vasco Galego Almeida. The public is invited to join the chorus in performing traditional Alentejan songs. The program will conclude with a tasting of regional Alentejo products.
