Forte dei Marmi and Lerici host major summer coastal races

The 34th edition of the Palio dei Bagni took place on the beach of Forte dei Marmi, Italy, with the Bagno La Perla team winning the race in 8 minutes, 59.30 seconds. The event, organized with the municipality and the Union of Bath Owners, also featured the second Giorgio Giannelli prize, awarded jointly to Bagno La Perla and Bagno Nettuno‑Bagno Vittoria, and the participation of the AIPD Versilia association for the second consecutive year.

On 9 August, the 43rd Coppa Byron swimming crossing was held between Portovenere and Lerici, covering seven kilometres of open sea. The historic race, first run in 1949, celebrated local maritime tradition and community identity, with the mayor of Lerici highlighting its cultural value. The start was at 14:30 from Portovenere and the finish in Lerici was expected around 16:00, followed by a prize‑giving ceremony.
