Fortnite announces Override season with major gaming crossovers
Epic Games has officially revealed the upcoming Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, titled “Override,” which is scheduled to launch on August 20, 2026. The new season features a “Gaming Legends” theme, centered on major video game crossovers and nostalgia.
Key collaborations include Sonic the Hedgehog, with the iconic Green Hill Zone being added to the game map. Other confirmed characters and franchises include Mega Man, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Pac-Man, Tetris, and Persona 5’s Joker. The update also features returning legends such as Master Chief, Lara Croft, and Geralt of Rivia.
Gameplay changes will accompany these cosmetic additions. Players can expect new mechanics like the Sonic Spin Dash, Mega Man’s Mega Buster, and Tetris-inspired environmental elements. The Battle Pass will include a mix of licensed characters and original skins inspired by various gaming genres, such as Bastion (a Link-style character) and K1TTYW1NS (a racing-style character).
