Fortnite launches Chapter 7 Season 4 ‘Override’ with gaming crossovers

Epic Games has launched Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, titled ‘Override’, featuring a major retro-gaming theme. The update introduces extensive collaborations with iconic video game franchises, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Tetris, Persona 5, Kingdom Hearts, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.

Key gameplay mechanics include the ‘Override’ system, where players can use consoles to alter server rules, and a ‘Lobby Hack’ system that allows players to enter codes via an admin panel for rewards. New items such as Sonic’s Power Sneakers, the Mega Buster, and the 8-Bit Shotgun have been added to the loot pool. The map has also undergone significant changes, introducing new Points of Interest like Green Hill Zone, Stone Sanctum, and Reality’s Reign.

The seasonal transition required scheduled server maintenance on August 20, 2026, causing temporary downtime for players globally. The update also features an expanded Sprite system and a new Battle Pass containing various themed cosmetics.
