Epic Games has launched Fortnitemares 2026, an annual Halloween-themed event in Fortnite running from October 1 through November 1. The update introduces significant map changes, new gameplay mechanics, and various high-profile intellectual property collaborations.

Key collaborations include Five Nights at Freddy’s, featuring Freddy Fazbear and other animatronic bosses that players can encounter and potentially possess. Other featured franchises include A Nightmare on Elm Street, with Freddy Krueger appearing as a rival in the Nightmare Neighborhood area, as well as Hazbin Hotel, Black Clover, Hollow Knight, Beetlejuice, and Stranger Things.

Gameplay updates include the introduction of the Bonerattler SMG, cursed cartridge Overrides that grant abilities like invisibility or damage boosts, and the return of the Horde Rush limited-time mode. Players can also participate in special Power Hour events to earn specific rewards, such as the ability to collect Sprites or unlock free skins like Jack-a-Nap through specific in-game quests.
