Fortress Festival expands to three days for 2027 edition

Fortress Festival has announced ten new additions to its 2027 lineup and revealed an expansion to a three-day event. To mark its fifth anniversary, the UK black metal festival will introduce ‘Fortress: First Light’, a special Friday evening pre-show held at the Grand Hall in Scarborough Spa, North Yorkshire.

Swedish black metal group Watain is set to headline the inaugural Friday event with a UK-exclusive performance. They will be joined by Polish act Terrestrial Hospice, making their UK debut.

The main weekend lineup includes several international acts performing exclusive UK sets, such as Colorado-based Stormkeep, Norway’s Mare, and Germany’s Sulphur Aeon. Other confirmed performers include British act Ninkharsag, Belgian projects Silver Knife and Oerheks, atmospheric black metal act Bloodbark, and Swedish dungeon synth artist Örnatorpet.
